All Breed Dog Show: Held at the TC Civic Center,
8am-4pm. Includes judging of dogs in conformation,
obedience and a special dancing dog performance

Northern Lights Celebration: Dinner, comedy

Frankfort Craft & Antique, Muscle Car Show:
Held in Market Square Park, 10am-4pm with
over 100 craft booths. Car show held in Mineral

"American Artifact" Exhibit: Rock poster artist
Mark Arminski will be at InsideOut Gallery, TC,
6pm for a presentation, held in conjunction with
the film premier of "American Artifact." (See Sat.)
Tickets on Sale for "Christina": Film about
a young German woman hoping to leave for
America with her G.I. fiance, but the future looks
bleak when a relentless police inspector stands in
their way. Inspired by a true story, showing at the
State Theater, TC, on July 18. Tickets on sale now

Author Presentation: Adam Schuitema, author
of "Freshwater Boys," will discuss growing up
as a boy in Michigan at the Cottage Book Shop,
Glen Arbor, at 2pm.
Public Viewing Night: See the night sky at
Rogers Observatory, TC, 9-11pm.

Lore: A Multimedia Performance and Exhibits:
Featuring creative work of seven Michigan female
artists, including paintings, textile art, dance,
poetry, song and film. Gallery opens at 7pm;
seated performance begins at 8pm. Held at Mills
Community House Theater, Benzonia.

Michigan Firewise Communities: Join Bruce
Lang of the MSU Extension office to learn about
precautions to take in your home and community.
Held at the Cadillac Wexford Public Library,

Little Finger Poker Run: Scenic motorcycle
tour starting at Leelanau Sands Casino, 8am.
Motorcyclists will visit participating businesses
and earn points to earn the best-possible poker
hand. Cost, $30. Includes barbecue, 6-7pm.

7th Annual Taste of Charlevoix: Held in downtown
East Park, 11am-4pm. Includes local restaurants,
wineries and breweries.

Bay View Music Festival: "A Tribute to Motown"
will feature the music of Stevie Wonder, Ray
Charles, Aretha Franklin and more. Held at the
historic John M. Hall Auditorium, Petoskey, 8pm.
Cost, $20. Benefits the Grass River Natural Area.

Taste of the North Festival: Primary fundraiser
for the Little Traverse Regional Historical Society,
held at the History Museum at Bayfront Park,
Petoskey, 10am-4pm. Includes: pie-eating contest
by the Grand Traverse Pie Company, Jania
the Magic Lady, petting zoo, big wheel bicycle
demos, horseless carriage rides, SEE-North birds
of prey, vintage car show, live entertainment and
an old-time country dance. Features a variety of
local restaurants.

"American Artifact" Premier: Film that chronicals
the rise of American rock poster art since its
beginnings in the 1960s, showing at InsideOut
Gallery, TC, at 7:30pm and 9:30pm. Followed
by Q & A with director Merle Becker and Mark
Arminski.

Black & White Gala: Gourmet dinner from
Trattoria Stella and complimentary dinner wine.
Includes live and silent auctions. Held at the

8th Annual Pink Ribbon Ride: Bicycle ride
with 7-, 20, 42- & 55-mile routes around Lake
Charlevoix, to help raise money for breast cancer
research programs through Charlevoix Area
Hospital and Northern Michigan Regional Hospital.

Author Signing: Ray Algueseva, author of "Silent
Heroes" -- the memoir of a WWII veteran, will be
