Strong Women Unite! Luncheon: Celebrate the
influential and giving women of Traverse City with
a conversation and luncheon, 11am-1pm, at the

Energy Improvements Workshop: Information
on the Michigan Saves and the Save Green Loan
programs hosted by the Northwest Michigan
Sustainable Business Forum at the TC Michigan
Works! Service Center, 8:30am. Free.

Book Release: Fleda Brown will be at the
Watershed Center, TC, for a book release of her
work "Loon Cry: Selected and New Michigan
Poems," 5-8pm. Reception will feature Brown,
along with artist Glenn Wolff.

Mountain Gorillas of Uganda: Jessica Posciask,
world traveler, will discuss sustainable tourism in
the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest of Uganda, ensuring
the mountain gorillas' survival at the Traverse
Area District Library, 7pm. No charge.

Free Community Concert: HERD, the social
and political-driven songs group, will perform at
Kirtland Community College, Roscommon, 2pm.

Lighthouses of the Grand Traverse Region: Elk
Rapids Historical Society program at the Elk Rapids
Township Hall, 7pm. Admission, $5 donation for
adults; $2 for students. Young children are free.
"India and Its Neighbors": International Affairs

Forum Lecture at Northwestern Michigan College's
Milliken Auditorium, 6pm, wth Ambassador
Shashank, former foreign secretary of India.
Reception preceeds event at 5:15pm.

Constitution Day Panel Discussion: Led by
Northwestern Michigan College history faculty on
topics including war without declaration, what is
constitutional and the First Amendement and the
proposed mosque near Ground Zero in NYC. Held in
Room 101 of Scholar's Hall on the main campus.

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling
Bee": Musical play about six spelling competitors
and learning that winning isn't everything.
Performed by the Old Town Players at the Old
Town Playhouse, TC, at 8pm; Sunday, 3pm.

Tree Management Forum: Learn about the
importance of trees and suggested practices,
as hosted by the M-119 Tunnel of Trees Scenic
Heritage Route Committee. Held at Readmond
Township Hall, Emmet County, 6:30pm.

Benzie County Business After Hours: Postwork
networking at The Laughing Horse Saloon &
Restaurant, Thompsonville, from 5-7pm. Includes
door prizes, 50/50 raffle and hors d'oeuvres. $5
donation at the door.
