Organic Gardening Workshop: Hosted by the
Michigan Land Use Institute at the Little River Band
of Ottawa Indians Community Center, Manistee,
6:30-9:30pm. Pre-register at 941-6584.

Courtade School Fundraiser: Eat at Wendy's
in TC, from 4-7pm in the dining area, and 50%
of sales benefit Courtade Elementary's literacy
program.

Author Presentation: Doc Fletcher will be at the
Cadillac Public Library, 7pm, to discuss his book
Weekend Canoeing in Michigan: The Rivers, The
Towns, The Taverns. Free event.

Grand Traverse Hiking Club Presentation:
Clayton Doughenbaugh from the Utah Wilderness
Alliance will discuss how to ensure public lands
remain eligible for future wilderness designation.
Held at the Boardman River Nature Center, TC,
7-8:30pm.

Culinary Arts Series: Hosted by the Crooked
Tree Arts Center, Petoskey, from 6-8pm, featuring
Al Plungis from Edgewater Bistro in Charlevoix.
Class, $50 for non-CTAC members. Register at

Charlevoix Business After Hours: Held at The
Villager Pub, 5-7pm.

Halloween Family Program: Held at Cheboygan
Area Public Library, 7pm, featuring Gordon the
Magician.

Fair Trade Day: Sample fair trade coffee, chocolate
and other products at Oryana Natural Foods
Market, 9am-8pm.

Brick Wheels “Ice Woman”: clinic designed for
those who want to learn more about the IceMan
Race and for those who plan to participate in this
year’s event meet at Timber Ridge @ 6:00

Oriental Dancing & Singing Concert: The
International Orphanage Angels from Beijing perform
at First Congregational Church, 6:30pm. Call
231-941-8076.

Author Presentation: Mary Doria Russell, author
of this year's TC Reads project: Dreamers of the
Day, a story set against the backdrop of WWI, the
influenza epidemic of 1917, women's suffrage and
the Cairo Peace Conference of 1921. Russell will
be at the City Opera House, TC, 7pm. Reception
at 6pm in the lobby. Tickets, $10.
